In the past 10 years our experience modifier has been less than 1.0, which is considered exceptional for our type of construction.
Our Safety Director oversees all aspects of the safety and OSHA programs. We utilize weekly safety meetings and field safety inspections. The Company takes safety very seriously as we realize that employees are our most valuable asset.
Union Free Statement: We know that in order to be successful, operate profitably and provide safe, secure jobs we must meet the needs of our customers. To do that, we must be as flexible and efficient as possible. We must use our resources wisely, We must retain the ability to adjust, depending on what our customers want, and we must not disappoint them with interrupted or untimely deliveries.
Unfortunately, unions often don’t have the same interests we do. Unions can be more concerned with getting extra dues-payers on the payroll, even if it’s at the expense of efficiency or productivity. For example, a union may contest new systems, technological improvements, adjustable work schedules, cross-training and broad work assignments. Should that happen, it would hurt our flexibility and could compromise our competitive position.
Traditionally, companies’ costs increase after unionization, but not due to higher wages or increased benefits for employees. (We now provide a very competitive wage and benefit package, reviewed and adjusted regularly, designed to attract and keep good people like you.) The extra costs come in the form of money and time spent in unnecessary or disruptive union meetings, arbitrations, legal fees, negotiations and preparing for operations during possible union strikes. None of this helps us keep customers satisfied – the key to real job security.
We want to make union representation an unnecessary purchase. We have a long and deep commitment to positive employee relations, fair treatment and good communications. We’re proud to say that no employee has to give a piece of his or her paycheck to a union. This isn’t an attack on unions generally. We just never want to see the in-fighting, artificial tensions, risks and extra costs which often come with unionization. That would be bad for the people who work here and depend upon us, and bad for our business.
